Galax VA 12/31

Here are some photos I took while creeping around the industry district in Galax, VA. Neighborhoods like this are interesting to me because of the many textures and layers of residence. What started off as housing for the local industry workers becomes the poor side of town and often the houses contrast greatly in appearance as they become homes to people of different generations and levels of employment. There seems to be a great deal of storage here, too.

the scourge

Why the scourge?

Being a single person in his late 30's with no kids is weird at best, often considered irresponsible, selfish, unbalanced, or mentally diseased.

Working as a visual artist, but not a recognized visual artist is not allowed and means one is lazy and a scourge.

A well-known, single, attractive artist is a stylish trend-setter. A poor, single, scrubby, artist is a dangerous weirdo.

A person can be labeled a scourge for many reasons. It could be the way you look, the way you talk, the place you live, the things you have or don't have. It is very seldom based on the positive things you try to do in life or the way you treat others-these things are ignored.

Take pride in your situation and, as a friend of mine (I do have some) said today: Have Scourage.

Enjoy the song and remember that there are other scourges out there.

creepin around town

Hey there pals. I got a new camera lens and was out creepin around my neighborhood the other day to try it out. Here are some houses from my part of town and an especially creepy one that I live in!

brand new blog site

Hey everybody, welcome to my new blog site: The Creeping Scourge. This is where I can share all my creepy adventures with folks and keep you updated on my activities as a scourge on society. I wanted to start by sharing a picture I took while creeping around in the dead of night on an evil pagan holiday, the winter solstice.  Its such a pleasure to be here with you all,
